I have what they call combination skin. Parts of my face are oily while most of it is rather dry. I also have very sensitive skin. Most products that I try that are new or different irritate my skin and either burn or make my skin itch.
I was contacted by Crystal Farris, an Independent Consultant, to do a review of the Botanical Effects line of products put out by Mark Kay.
Here are some key points about the line.

- Corrective cleanser that purifies skin and helps cleanse pores.
- Oily skin gets pore-clearing help from a kanuka and guava extracts-infused formula.
- Formulated without synthetic dyes or added fragrance.
- Simple skin care suitable for even the most sensitive skin.

- Nondrying formula gently removes excess residue from skin.
- Helps cleanse or mask and minimizes the appearance of pores.
- Oily skin gets pore-clearing help from a kanuka and guava extracts-infused formula.

I will be updating you over the next couple of months on my thoughts about the products and more.
My thoughts this month:
I am so glad to finally find a product that doesn't irritate my skin. Being that this line is a botanical blend instead of synthetic dyes and fragrances is probably the main factor into why it doesn't irritate my skin. The cleanser is gentle on my face while still removing my makeup. The freshener really helps to remove some of the excess oils and makeup that sometimes get buried in your pores. I did have a slight problem with the moisturizer in that I probably need to get one more for drier skin than oily especially now that the weather is turning cooler. I have always had a problem with my makeup looking rather dry and powdery (I know some of that has to do with makeup, but my skin is dry anyways so I have needed a change there). I was sent the #3 formula for oily skin and most likely it just wasn't the right fit. It is hard to describe your skin type to other people. So we are going to try a different formula of moisturizer and see if that helps. What I do like most about this line is that there are three different formulas dependent upon your skin type(dry, oily, normal). I have seen a slight improvement in the redness that my skin seems to have. I think it helps that the Botanical Effects are not so harsh on my skin. I can't wait to see how my skin improves more over the next couple of months.
I think another hard thing about skincare is that you want to see results immediately and sometimes you just have to keep trying it and over time you will see the difference, whether good or bad.
