Potty Training.. Every parent wants it to happen sooner rather than later, but the actual process can be so daunting at times. You are told to "wait" for the signs of readiness, but some kids could really care less. Yes it is great when the can pull their pants up and down themselves, or learn the words associated with going to the potty. One problem though is that disposable diapers wick away the moisture so fast that the child doesn't recognize that they have even gone. You can always just start letting them wear underwear, but that can mean for a lot of cleanup.
We have mostly used disposable just because I never really thought about how the super absorbent polymers that make up the liner of the diaper, soak up the moisture so fast. When we were potty training Little Man, we let him wear underwear for a couple of hours a day, but I sure had quite a few messes to clean up. Back then though, I had the time to watch him closely and see when he was about to go and rush to the bathroom. With Little Miss, the potty training hasn't gone so quickly because I just haven't had the time to focus and be able to watch her before she has accidents all over the house.
I am hoping to really focus on it soon and it is great to know that there are products like Antsy Pants out there. Antsy Pants are cloth diaper training pants that pull up just like the disposables do, but they actually allow your child to feel the wetness for about 5 minutes before it absorbs it into the inner layers. The insides are made of super soft cloth, while the outside keeps the leaks from getting all over your floor. This helps your child to actually feel that they have gone and help master one of the hardest potty training skills of elimination awareness more quickly. I like that the sides are stretchy cloth, so that they are easily able to be pulled down. What is also great is that they have snaps on both sides so if there is a "big mess" inside, you don't wind up having to slip it down your kids legs.. That can be really gross!!
Antsy pants come in a range of sizes depending upon the size of your child. I got the 4T size for Little Miss since that is what she wears in clothes, but they wound up being a bit big on her. Her tooshy is small for sure, even though she is tall for her age. They also can be custom made for older kiddos who still wet the bed at night. There is an easy to access pocket that allows you to slip in a prefold liner to give the cloth trainer extra absorbency for nighttime. Antsy Pants also has a rental system for their trainers. You can purchase it on a monthly basis and different package sizes(depending upon how often you do laundry) so that you are not having to go out and spend lots of money on trainers. This is especially good if you child masters potty training quickly.
So if you wanting to start potty training and want your child to be able to master it more quickly by feeling what they are doing, I recommend the Antsy Pants Pull-Up Cloth Diaper Trainers for sure!!

Those are so cool! I'm hoping my daughter will potty train soon, and we've been using cloth diapers thus far, I want a good transition "underwear" for potty training. this may be just the solution!
